Compressors in this contex are refrigeration compressors, meaning they compress freon and not air. They are located centered in the condenser surrounded by the condensing coil. They intake freon as a low pressure, low temperature, gas. The compressor then raises the pressure of the freon, as well as the temperatureor the freon. This will then allow the freon to become condensed into a liquid when cooled.
