A condenser fan motor is designed to remove the heat from the condenser. The motor turns fan blades, which move air in such a way as to cool the condensing coil. This will aid in condensing the freon. This motor is a special motor in the sense that it is always outside in the weather. It is intended to survive many years of service without failing. It is located in the condenser at the top of the unit.
