The pump, if it is indeed a type that needs to be oiled, should be done so annually. To oil the pump, remove the caps that are located on both sides of the motor itself, along with the cap that is between the motor and the piping (bearing assembly). Apply the oil in these openings using an approved oil for the pump. A turbine oil is usually used. Also, if the pump has a coupler, an inspection should be done to make sure the coupler is still intact.

If you have a cartridge pump then there are no couplers or oil ports.
